What Is a Scope Statement?

Scope definition is the activity of breaking down major project deliverables into smaller, more manageable units for better control. Its purpose is to improve the accuracy of cost, time and resource estimates, and to define a benchmark plan for performance measurement and control to facilitate clear assignment of responsibilities. It is based on the following aspects: (1) the scope statement, including the project and rationale, a brief description of the project results, a list of deliverables, and the degree to which the project goals are achieved; (2) constraints, which are factors that limit the project team's actions (3) Hypothetical premise, that is, considering the assumption that certain factors are true, consistent with reality, and affirmation for the purpose of formulating a plan; (4) the results of other plans; ^[1]
