Certification of professional human resources (PHR) is a credential that can look for a person who works in the field of human resources management. A person can look for this type of certification to show potential employers that he has extensive knowledge of human resources management and experience in the field. To obtain this certification, the person must usually pass the exam and gain experience in related work. Certification usually lasts about three years, then the person in this area usually completes the Re-certification process.

The individual must meet certain requirements to be eligible for the PHR certification exam. For example, it usually needs relevant experience in human resources management.
