What are the phytochemicals?
If you read about food nutrition, you can hear the term superfoods that defines foods that have a high presence of something called phytochemicals. This term sounds very scientifically and does not mean much to the average person. Yet, as soon as they are explained, phytochemicals are easy to understand. For example, they can help plant plants from the development of molds or protect against bacteria growth. Some research suggests that the production of these phytochemicals does not only benefit plants. People who consume plants with a high presence of these chemicals can also benefit from these protective chemicals, even if they can serve people a different purpose than for plants. Not all of them are the same for humans and not all come from the same plants. Some showed more promising than others in fightiiseas and disease in humans. There are some basic types of phytochemicals that are found in various sheep and vegetables. You will hear the term antioxidant discussed frequently and some antiOxidants that can prevent premature cell death, some forms of cancer or aging are present in things like onions, most fruit and tea.
Some women turned to phytochemicals called isoflavones or plant estrogen. These estrogens, often present in soy and soy products, could prove to be useful in the years just before and after the start of menopause. Other types of beneficial chemicals called Indoles can help reduce estrogen levels in the body, which may have certain properties of breast cancer prevention, although this is not proven. Other offered as breast cancer prevention include terpenes and protease inhibitors.
One phytochemical found in hot peppers is capsaicin, which was displayed significantly to reduce the size of the prostate, at least in mice. Regular use of capsaicin by eating spicy foods with hot peppers may prove to be an excellent preventionTent to prostate cancer and benign prostate growth. Many of these plant chemicals are reduced to additional patterns and are available in health food and natural food stores.
There is a big question as to whether phytochemicals that are not present in food form really work, just as if you get them from natural sources. Most nutritionists recommend getting most of the phytochemicals directly from food. For this reason, the category of superfoods has been introduced, as these fruits and vegetables boast a high level of potentially beneficial, naturally produced chemicals. You will find lots of superfood lists online.
