What are sleep spindles?

Sleep spindles are waves of brain activities during sleep, as shown in electroencephalogram (EEG). They are also known as Sigma Bands or Waves. Sleep spindles are the most obvious during sleep in phase 2 and occur in an explosion that lasts for about a second. Phase 2 is one of the deeper phases of sleep, unlike lighter phases, where individuals are still relatively aware of their external environment. Studies have shown that sleep spindles can help block external sounds, resulting in more sound sleep.

Sleep occurs during sleep in phase 2 along with K-complex complexes. K-complex look different than waves similar to spindles that appear on EEG as dramatic spikes. The spindles are caused by the activity in thalamus. It is suspicious that when the spindle occurs, Thalamus attempts to block brain signals - a description of external stimuli, such as the sound of a crying baby - from achieving other areas of the brain that could disrupt sleep. The spindles begin to appear in Sleep around the first six to theSmi weeks of life, after which the sleepers remain for life. Given that sleep 2. Phase includes about half of human sleep, the spindle is the main part of our sleep.

spindle sleeps can be the key to sound. A study conducted by Harvard Medical School in the US has shown that individuals at a greater spind frequency slept healthier. The Praguers were subjected to sounds that normally interrupt sleep - turns in operation, ringing phones, toilets, etc. The studies found that those who exposed more sleep spindles were better able to sleep through the noise, while those with less spindles slept less healthy. The study data led to the conclusion that the spindles may be a brain way to divert noise and distraction during sleep.

If other studies have shown that sleeping spindle is equal to better sleep, it would help to explain much the way we sleep. He explainedAbout why one person sleeps easily even in the lowest conditions and why others wake up with the smallest sounds. Such findings could also change the way we sleep: there may be efforts to attempt artificial creation of sleep spindles. If such an effort was successful, it could be a revolutionary breakthrough for sleepers everywhere. In particular, Insomnia and light sleepers would gain the most to finally settle for the whole night of sound sleep.
