What is a double uterus?
Double uterus, also known as the uterus didlphys, is a rare state in which a woman has a duplicity of the uterus. Although the exact reason why this congenital abnormality develops is unknown, there is a lack of fusion of early embryonic structures. Symptoms of double uterus may include infertility, sex with sexual intercourse and abnormal menstrual bleeding. Treatment options for the condition may include various reconstruction operations to create a more functional reproductive tract.
All women with double uterus have two uterine cavities. However, the extent of duplication observed in different women may vary. Some women with this condition have two uterine cavities that connect into a single cervix. Other women have two copies of cervix, vagina, bladder and vulva along with both uterus.
Although the exact cause of the double uterus is unknown, the developmental basis for this condition is well understood. In normal female embryos, threr -producer tract is made of structures called MüllerIan Ducts, which come from early renal precursors. Normally these channels grow and eventually connect to the formation of one uterus connected to two water -values and two ovaries. Sometimes this process of joining the pipes is together unsuccessful and without the Müllerian fusion, two forms of the uterus.
The symptoms caused by the double uterus may vary according to the patient. Some patients have apparent manifestations of the condition because they have two vaginal cavities. Patients who have only duplication of the uterus may not only be affected by the condition of the condition later in their lives. They may report symptoms such as pain during sexual intercourse, abnormal menstrual cycles, infertility or premature work.
The diagnosis of double uterus is most often performed using imaging studies. RadiographicTests such as computer tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging tests (MRI) can illustrate presentOst of two skills. The procedure called hysterosalpingography takes a picture of the female reproductive tract after the dye is injected into the cervical canal. The advantage of this test is that it clearly outlines the walls of the uterus and can distinguish a double uterus from other congenital abnormalities of the uterus.
Depending on the patient's symptoms and desires, double uterus treatment differs. The condition often limits the reproductive abilities of a woman, either by having sexual intercourse that sexual intercourse is not done or by increasing the risks of premature or complicated birth. Metroplasty or plastic uterine surgery transforms the uterus to increase its reproductive ability and reduce the symptoms associated with abnormal menstruation. Many women with a condition that become pregnant will decide on the optional coesarian section to avoid the experience of professionalablems with the process of labor.
