What Is an Ovulation Chart?

Ovulation test strips detect ovulation by detecting peak levels of luteinizing hormone (LH). It can be used for the qualitative detection of luteinizing hormone (LH) in human urine, so as to determine the ovulation time and the "safe period" in women's menstrual cycle, in order to choose the best time for conception or use "safe period" contraception.

Ovulation test

Ovulation test strips are produced by detecting corpus luteum
This reagent adopts the principle of double antibody sandwich method of immunochromatography and colloidal gold labeling technology. It is composed of nitrocellulose fibers with a mouse anti-a-LH monoclonal antibody (detection line) and a goat anti-mouse IgG polyclonal antibody (control line). The plain film is made by pasting other auxiliary materials such as glass fiber in which colloidal gold-labeled rat anti--LH monoclonal antibody is adsorbed in advance.
During the detection, the LH in the urine sample was combined with the pre-solid -LH monoclonal antibody colloidal gold of the test pad end to form a conjugate, and this conjugate migrated upward to the detection line (T) area with the capillary action of the membrane. In response to the a-LH antibody on the membrane, a red band appears. Regardless of the presence or absence of LH in the specimen, when the liquid level continues to migrate to the control line (C) area, a zone must appear in this area.
This reagent is used to qualitatively detect the change of luteinizing hormone in women's urine in vitro, so as to determine the ovulation time and the "safe period" in women's menstrual cycle, so as to select the best time for conception or use "safe period" contraception.
Normal women ovulate every month. After an egg matures in the ovary, it is discharged from the ovary and transported to the uterus via the fallopian tube. The pregnancy process is formed by a mature egg combined with sperm in the fallopian tube.
1 This reagent uses human urine as the test sample.
2 Collect urine in a clean, dry container. Urine can be detected within a day, but morning urine is generally not available. The best time to collect urine is from 10 am to 8 pm a week after the end of menstruation. During continuous testing for several days, try to use a urine sample at the same time every day during the test.
3 If the urine is visible turbidity, it needs to be centrifuged, filtered, or the supernatant should be taken for detection after it has precipitated. If it cannot be detected in time, the urine sample can be stored at room temperature for 4 hours or refrigerated at 2-8 ° C for 48 hours. Long-term storage should be frozen at -20 ° C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
4 Adding 0.1% sodium azide as a protective agent will not affect the test results.
5 Water intake should be reduced within 2 hours before urine collection, as diluted urine samples will prevent the detection of peak LH. [1]
1. The normal normal menstrual cycle is 28 days. The next day when menstruation comes, it is pushed forward for 14 days as the ovulation day. The test usually starts from the 11th day of ovulation day, and it is always tested for 6 days. But not every woman ovulates in the middle of menstruation, and there may not be a positive result during the 6-day test. Some women are sometimes affected by the environment, emotions and fatigue, and may ovulate early.
2. Water intake should be reduced 2 hours before urine collection, as diluted urine samples will prevent the detection of peak LH.
3. The change of the color of the test line during the test should be observed and recorded. If the test result is negative but the color of the test line starts to decrease, it can also be used as the LH peak.
4. The test paper should observe the reaction result within the specified time, and it will be invalid after 30 minutes. If there is a negative test result, a light band may appear at the position of the test line. Observe after a period of time.
5. Do not allow the test strip to get wet or touch the reaction membrane before use. After removing the test strip from the canned test strip, immediately close the lid of the can. The test strip should be used within the validity period, please do not use it after it expires.
6. HCG in the urine will interfere with the test results of the test strips, so ovulation test strips are not suitable for pregnant women. If the peak of LH persists for several days, you should first check whether you are pregnant.
7. At present, there is no report that the commonly used drugs (such as cold medicine, antibiotics, analgesics, etc.) affect the accuracy of the test, but it will be affected if injection or taking drugs containing HCG. [2]
The tested samples, reagents and other equipment used should be returned to room temperature before use.
1.Before testing
-Before using, please read the instructions on the package and instruction manual carefully.
-Before using, you need to know your regular menstrual cycle to make sure that the LH surge is tested at the right time.
-The total number of days from the first day of the menstrual cycle (the first day of the entire period) to the day before the start of the next menstrual period is the length of your menstrual cycle.
-Once you know the length of your menstrual cycle, use the table below to find out when to start the test:

-You can test at any time of the day, but the test time should be the same every day.
-Try not to urinate within 4 hours before the test. Avoid taking too much fluid before the test. You will find it more convenient to use the morning urine test on the day.
2.Ready to test
1 This reagent is for single use only for in vitro testing.
2 The sealed aluminum foil bag can only be opened before testing. It should be used as soon as possible within 1 hour after opening the original packaging.
3 Not every woman ovulates in the middle of menstruation and may not show a positive result during the 5 days of the test.
4 The change of the color of the test line during the test should be observed and recorded. If the test result is negative but the color of the test line starts to decrease, it can be used as the LH peak.
5 The urine is too thin and the LH concentration in the urine is too low. The LH concentration in it is not representative. Therefore, it is not advisable to drink too much water or other beverages before testing.
6 The test paper should observe the reaction result within the specified time, and the result is invalid after 30 minutes.
7 Do not allow the test strip to get wet or touch the reaction film before use. After removing the test strip from the canned test strip, immediately close the lid of the can.
8 It should be used within the validity period. Do not use it after the expiration date.
9 Read the instructions carefully before starting the test, and do it exactly according to each step; Do not take some medicines such as hormones that may affect the test results. When you avoid situations that will interfere with the test results, pregnancy test sticks Will be accurate. [3]
1 This reagent is used to detect LH in human urine samples.
2 Normal content of human homologous hormones hTSH, hFSH does not interfere with this test strip, but HCG in urine will interfere with the test results of the test strip, so this test strip is not suitable for pregnant women. If it is found to persist for several days, As a result of the LH peak, you should first test for pregnancy.
3 The commonly used drugs (such as cold medicine, antibiotics, analgesics, etc.) have not been reported to affect the accuracy of the test, but if injected or taken with fertility drugs such as HCG will affect it.
4 When used for conception, ovulation is a complex physiological process. Sometimes the appearance of LH peaks does not necessarily result in the formation of normal corpus luteum after ovulation. If you have a peak LH and you are in the same room, and you are not pregnant after 3 months, you must consult a gynecologist.
5 For contraception, when the test line is slightly shallower than the control line during the test, it is best to take contraceptive measures in the same room. However, women are sometimes affected by environment, emotions and fatigue, and may ovulate early.
The following conditions may affect the test results: menopause, taking hormones, steroids and contraceptives, or suffering from polycystic ovary syndrome, hyperthyroidism and some endocrine diseases.
6 Suffering from primary hypogonadism, amenorrhea due to ovarian failure, polycystic ovary syndrome, etc. can cause abnormal increase in LH; pituitary-hypothalamopathy, amenorrhea-lacta syndrome, Kallma syndrome, mentality Anorexia. The lack of simple pituitary LH and delayed puberty can lead to abnormal reduction of LH, so the test results should be comprehensively judged clinically.
7 The detection of ovulation test strips is not absolutely accurate. There are a large number of clinical cases that missed the ovulation period and LH peak. Many women can only detect weak positives (representing ovulation or ovulation) but not strong positives (representing ovulation). It does not mean that ovulation has not occurred. Pregnant mothers can also have sex during weak positive periods [4] , and the chances of successful pregnancy are not low.
8 Use under the guidance of a doctor.
The LH test strip uses the principle of the immunochromatographic double-antibody sandwich method and colloidal gold labeling technology, which is highly accurate in determining the ovulation time and the "safe period" in women's menstrual cycles.
