What is de Morsier syndrome?
Children spend their time inside the womb by developing their bodies and sometimes they can cause the development of the child to be born with a congenital health condition. De Morsier Syndrome is a rare type of this type of condition and in this case children have problems with the development of certain areas of the brain. People with this condition have vision problems and can also have intellectual disabilities and grow to shorter than normal heights. De Morsier Syndrome is commonly known as septooptic dysplasia. Only one child out of 10,000 is born with this syndrome. The name de Morsier comes from a doctor who identified symptoms as a specific syndrome. Some scientists think that syndrome is actually a collection of conditions that, even if they share the same symptoms, have different causes.
The three main problem is associated with de Morsier syndrome. All people who have it have insufficiently developed nerves that lead from eyes to the brain. Like these nerves called optical nerves, they usually transfer information from the eyes to the brain to interpret,This means that disabled people have vision problems in at least one eye. Like vision problems, people with a condition can tend to move eyes from side to side in a way called nystagmus.
Brain deficiency is also expanded to supportive structures of the brain that keep the left and right hemispheres apart. Given that De Morsier's syndrome is a condition that differs in severity, this may not affect the intelligence of the person, but in some cases it does and the person has intellectual disabilities as a result. Like the development of nerves and structures in the brain, a person with de Morsier's syndrome may have a poorly developed pituitary. This gland normally produces several hormones that are important for normal growth and development.
If an individual has a poorly developed pituitary, it may have problems with growth and may not reach a height that falls within the normal range for their age. ReProduction development is also part of the role of pituitary and this can also be affected. Although the syndrome is not curable, there is a treatment that can alleviate symptoms. Optical solutions that can improve vision include eye spots during development and growth problems can be reduced in the treatment of hormones.
