What is swelling after giving birth?

To reduce swelling and force milk, a woman with swelling can apply a cold such as an ice package, on a breast for 20 minutes before drawing or feeding. It can also try the thermal pad to reduce swelling and release of milk. The thermal pad should be used for more than five minutes.
A compression bra can be a good choice to reduce swelling for a woman who does not plan breastfeeding. Compression will reduce swelling and persuade the body to stop milk producing. Women with swelling in their feet and ankles may also want to wear compression stockings.
In some cases, swelling after delivery may be a sign of a more serious problem, such as high blood pressure or deep venous thrombosis.
