What factors affect Vasotec dosing?
VASOTEC® is a brand of wide -prescribed generic drugs ENALAPRIL Maleate. It is used to treat high blood pressure, heart failure and occasionally asymptomatic left ventricular dysfunction. In determining the appropriate initial Vasotec® dosing regime for the patient, it is important to consider factors such as its age, condition, kidney health, liver function and other medicines, as these factors may require adjustments.
Adult patients suffering from high blood pressure should receive the initial Vasotec® dosage 5 mg once a day under supervision, with a dosage treatment made to their reaction. The effective therapeutic range for most patients is between 10 and 40 mg per day per dose. It should be administered in two divided doses for patients who experience blood pressure spikes at the end of the dosing interval.
Most candidates for Vasotec® therapy will be treated with diuretics that must be interrupted for at least two days before Vasotec® can be given. Patients who cannot safely againTreatment of diuretics, the initial dosing of Vasotec® 2.5 mg may be administered instead, while the symptoms of low blood pressure are carefully monitored. The initial dose of Vasotec® in neonatal pediatric patients with normal kidney function is significantly lower at only 0.08 mg to £ 2.2 (1 kg) of body weight up to a maximum of 5 mg or 0.58 mg to £ 2.2 (1 kg).
When a patient suffers from a mild to severe renal function, except hypertension, the initial dose must be reduced. Patients with creatine clearance less than 30 ml per minute should initially receive only 2.5 mg Vasotec®. Patients with dialysis should receive the same dose on days as dialysis, while the dose on non -diastic days should be adjusted to their reaction.
Patients suffering from heart failure can be administered in addition to standard treatment of digitalis and diuretics. While the initial recommended dualThe adults are 2.5 mg per day, it should be carefully increased as tolerated for several days or weeks up to a maximum of 40 mg daily at two divided doses. Patients should be monitored for at least two hours after increasing the dose to ensure that they do not suffer from serious low blood pressure, while their use of diuretics should be gradually eliminated if possible.
Use Vasotec® to treat heart failure in patients suffering from reduced kidney function is acceptable, but must initially be carefully monitored. Those with creatinine levels of less than 1.6 mg/dl or serum sodium less than 130 meg/l should start with a daily dose of 2.5 mg below close supervision. Vasotec® dosage adjustments should be carried out carefully at at least four -day intervals up to a maximum of 40 mg per day.
