What is Harvey Wallbanger?
Harvey Wallbanger is a type of mixed drink consisting of vodka, herbal liqueur Galliano® and orange juice. The most commonly accepted beverage recipe requires four ounce (120 ml) of orange juice and one ounce (30 ml) vodka, which is mixed on ice and mixed. Then one half of ounce (14 ml) from Galliano® is added, but not mixed. The drink is served with straw because it should be drunk from the bottom up. For the most part, its name became a well -known type of cocktail.
The origin of Harvey Wallbanger is a matter shrouded in mystery, but there are at least two prominent theories. The first is that he was created by a bartender named Bill Doner in the bar called The Office in Newport Beach, California. Although this explanation is simple and easily believable, many prefer a popular legend that claims it was named after a surfer from Manhattan beach near Los Angeles.
This version states that a surfer, named Harvey, enjoyed a cocktail known as a screwdriver who is vodka and orange juice, spikeICEL Liqueur Galliano®. After a particularly difficult day in which he lost an important surfing competition, it is said that he has consumed one too much of his favorite drink. When he finally left the bar, he was so drunk that he tripped and crashed into some furniture and a wall before he went out of the door. He was regular at the bar, and the next time he returned, he found that he had already earned the nickname "Harvey Wallbanger", hence the name of the drink.
Most of the stories of the origin of the drink are in California, California in 1952 or around 1952. In any case, it was not known outside the state for some time. This has become quite popular since the age of 70 as a result of being served on flights operated by TWA. The Harvey Wallbanger ingredients, although in different proportions, were also incorporated into the recipe for the Bundt cake, which is said to taste remarkably like the cocktail itself.
As time has passed, people modified the original Harvey Wallbanger to suit their own preferences. Some enjoyDrink with Galliano® mixing with the rest of the ingredients rather than hovering upstairs. Citrus flavor is also a common alternative to a common type. Some even replace orange juice with pineapple juice for refreshing variations. Ideas like these are of course how many new drinks are invented.
