What is MANGERINE?
Mandarin is citrus fruit, citrus reticulata , which is smaller and less sweet than classic orange. Tangerines are closely related to mandarins and both fruit are actually considered the same species. Tangerine has been a popular winter fruit since the 18th century, when small fruit were first brought to Europe along with other exports from Morocco. Fruits are sometimes considered excellent pocket foods because they are small with easily removed skin.
