What is orange blood?

Blood Orange is a number of popular citrus fruit named for its dark red or crimson -colored meat. The red color is derived from anthocyanin, a pigment that usually occurs in red fruit and flowers. Blood oranges are sweet, juicy and less acidic than other orange varieties. They are also slightly smaller than the orange table and has grown or smooth outer skin. Some types of blood oranges have a dark red color on the outside and most of them are without seeds.

It is assumed that blood oranges are natural mutations of typical oranges that have been constantly spreading since their first performance. Blood orange was first documented in Italy in the opera hesperides in 1646, where it was called "Red Orange". The fruit was not documented in Europe around 1850, although it could have been grown earlier than this. Blood oranges were eventually exported to North America, where they are also known as pigmented oranges and sanguiny.

Blood oranges were first cultivated in Sicily, where they are still grown. As the demand for sweet, red orange grew, the Sicilicians began to export the fruit to other countries. Today, the blood orange is also grown in California and in Florida in the United States, although the climate in Florida creates blood oranges that lacking characteristic red meat.

There are three primary orange blood cultivars: Sanguinello, Moro and Tarocco. Sanguinello cultivar has red leather, red-dragled meat and several seeds. Moro cultivar has deep crimson meat, red -orange skin and a stronger taste and aroma than other types. Tarocco cultivar is the sweetest of three, with orange leather and red-colored body. Tarocco Blood Orange is also known as "half of blood" because it is not as deeply pigmented as other cultivars.

All blood oranges are rich in potassium, inItamin C and diet thread. One medium -sized orange blood can provide up to 30 percent of the daily recommended fiber value and 130 percent of the daily recommended vitamin C value. The fruit also contains no fat, saturated fat, cholesterol or sodium.

In addition to being consumed raw, blood oranges have numerous culinary use. They are generally used in exactly the same way as other types of orange. Blood orange juice is used to produce jam, jelly, sorbet, soft drinks and even dressing salads. Juice is also a popular ingredient in cocktails, probably because of its red and enthusiasm is often used in baking.

Essential Orange blood oil has a distinct aroma that is much stronger than other orange oils. It is used in aromatherapy as an antidepressant and is also appreciated for its energy increasing properties. Oil is a common herbal remedy in parts of Europe for the treatment of digestion.
