What is Bockwurst?

Bockwurst is considered one of the most popular varieties of German sausages, especially in Germany itself. The sausage came from Berlin and believes it was invented by the owner of the restaurant named Scholtz in the 80s of the 20th century. In addition to being popular German food, Bockwurst can also be found abroad, especially in Western countries and in the United States. In fact, Bockwurst and similar sausage variations are made in some parts of America.

The traditional recipe for this type of sausage requires veal and pork, which are gently grounded before deployment in the sausage case. The recipe usually relies more on veal than pork. Modern variations on the bowl use additional meat and poultry, including turkey, chicken, lamb and pork. It is rare, but not unheard of, to make sausage with horse meat.
