What is Membrillo?

Sometimes it is referred to as quince or quince, membrrillo is confectionery, which is made of fruit as a primary component. The membrane, originating from Spain, is a simple combination of fruit, sugar and water that is cooked until the mixture creates a strong syrup. This sugar -based confectionery can then be created in a paste that can be easily used as a spread or a gelled fabric that can be cut into cubes or slices for use in different recipes.

The membrane can be easily poured into glasses while it is still warm. Once the fabric is cooled, a thick paste occurs. This tasty paste can be used as a span on a bagel or some other form of roasted bread. Membrillo is also a great way to add a little more taste to the tops of biscuits with short breads.

If the membrane is placed in molds and left gel, the candy becomes an ideal accompaniment to the cheese. One presentation requires the placement of the membrane slices between two slices of cheese and the trio with a toothpick. This recipe canE be prepared in a very short period of time and can serve as fast food or as an ideal complement to the feed plate for an occasional home party.

Another application of MEmbrillo is a simple dessert including cake peel, whipped cream cheese, membrane and almonds. Using a pre -short cake or a cracker Krusty Graham, spread the cream cheese as a bottom layer, then apply either a thick layer of membrane or chop the jelly quince and cover the cream cheese. Add shaved or cracked almonds as topped. The preparation of the finished product takes only minutes and provides a light dessert that is simply different enough to be interesting.

Membrillo has gained popularity in the last few years. The commercial brands of the quince can be found in a number of top grocery stores as well as in some ECALTY grocers.
