What is a plastic cover?

Plastic cover, also called Cling Film or Cling Wrap, is a thin plastic film used mainly for food coverage to keep them fresh. In 1953, a scientist was invented who tried to create a strong plastic cover for his car. Glad® Wrap and Saran ™ Wrap are the two most famous brands around the world and are often used as general terms. The first plastic packaging on the market was made of polyvinyliduchloride (PVC), commercially known as Saran, although today there are many brands - including Saran ™ Wrap - made of low density polyethylene (LDPE).

One advantage of using the plastic packaging is that it usually forms a seal without the use of adhesive by holding on yourself or to the container. Usually comes a role packed in a box with a cutting edge, although perforated varieties can also be available. In recent years, there have been concern for the toxicity of PVC and its tendency to infuse chemicals into food. LDPE is cheaper and easier to produce than PVC and can be safer forUsing the household and easier to recycle. Yet PVC is increasingly used, especially in the food catering industry, because it is better, is less permeable for oxygen and flavors and better protects against the freezer combustion.

neither PVC nor LDPE do not mind well, so other polymers such as polyisobuten (PIB) or polyethylene-vinyl 2 (EVA) must be added to the film. The first plastic packaging sold in Australia, Glad® Wrap, used edible adhesive and some newer products use similar technology. For example, Glad® Press'n Seal has edible adhesive pockets that are activated when you press the movie.
