What is the saga?

SAGO is a starch that comes from the palm of the saga. Like many other starches such as corn or potato starch, it is used for cooking and baking as a thickener. It can also be used to reinforce the fabric.

Sago palm routinely grows in Papua -Nové Guineji and Southeast Asia. It usually takes about 15 years for the ripening tree and its starch becomes usable. In order to remove the starch, the tree must be interrupted and the material or pitch inside has been taken. After the pulp is accumulated, the workers defeated it using sticks or knives to remove starch. Then they dipped the pulp and knead it to extraction more starch.

After the next wet marrow, the workers are pushed through a sieve, such as a feed bag and push the starch water out. They continue to press the pulp until all starch is removed. The water flows away from the starch, which is collected in containers and leaves to dry fully.

SAGO is commonly used to make a pudding known as Gula or Goula. Starch used in pudding mIt can be either in the form of the ground or in the shape of small balls. The person produces Gulul by mixing starch with water and cooking. After the sago and the water are left for several minutes, the excess water is tense and the remaining sago mixes with coconut milk. The pudding is usually served with a sweet palm syrup.

dry starch is also often used as flour and can be mixed into the dough to create food that is something like bread or biscuits. In the Papua -the Guinea, it often extends in a pan and is cooked into the pancake. It can also be the primary component in noodles.

In India, SAGO is used in the form of small beads or pearls that are very similar to tapioca pearls used in bubble teas drinks. The Pearl form is known as Sabudana and is often used to produce a kind of porridge known as Khichdi. Khichdi is commonly consumed breakfast.

Palm that grows in New Guinea and Southeast Asia and that produces starch should not be confused with Cycas Revoluta, which is commonly grown asHome plant and also known as Sago Palm. Cycas Revoluta is not really a palm tree. No part of the plant should be consumed because it is poisonous for both humans and animals.
