What is Sloe Gin?

Sloe gin is a liqueur made of gin filled with berries. It is popular in the US and many European countries, especially in Ireland, Germany and the UK. While commercial gin is widely available, many people decided to make liqueur at home. Can be consumed alone or can be mixed into a cocktail. These berries, known as Sloes, are closely associated with plum, although they are usually smaller in size. They tend to achieve maturity at the end of autumn. As a result, Sloe Gin is traditionally produced in October or November. Although commercially produced by liqueur manufacturers in the US and Europe, many people decide to get it at home. Creating this liqueur requires gin, berries with pad, super -pleasant sugar and large, sterilized, closed container.

For the production of 4.25 cups (one liter) of the GIN home composition, start by cleaning one pound (454 grams) of berries. Describe each berry with a sterilized needle to ensure thatE of its juices can pass into the gin, and then put the berries in the container. Add one cup (225 grams) of super -pleasant sugar and at the top with 4.25 cups (one liter) gin. Close the glass, shake it thoroughly and store it in a cool and dry place.

In order to create a rich taste and dark red shade, the mixture must be infused for several weeks. It should be shaken once a day for the first week and once a week for the next eight weeks. After this time of stress, the liquid should be separated from the fruit by decating in a sterilized vessel. Fruits can now be discarded or can be used to make jams or cider.

After it is ready, Gin Slo can be consumed alone or can be mixed into cocktails. Alabama Slammer is one of the most popular cocktails based on Sloe Gin. Sloe Gin can also be used to provide fruit taste and color shade for drinks, which are usually made with conventional gin, such as Gin Fizz or Long Island ice tea.
