What factors lead to the production of antibodies?

The production of antibodies is part of the immune response that occurs after the body identifies foreign proteins known as antigens. Antibodies are responsible for the production of antigens. No antibodies would be synthesized in their absence.

In animals, antibodies produce when a special type of immune cell, called B cell, encounters antigen. An antigen that can be dangerous foreign protein, such as a virus or bacterium or a harmless molecule such as an allergen, is a catalyst for antibody production. The organism that does not come into contact with antigens has no reason to initiate antibodies.

In nature, animals often come into contact with antigens. B cells connect to antigens and determine what type of antibody to create. If the body has met a particular antigen in the past, it often knows how to destroy this molecule and the production of antitel specific to this antigen can begin immediately. However, if the organism has not yet met this antigenM, it may take some time for the right antibodies to develop in response. Although this process takes time, most animals are able to successfully recover from the production of antibodies.

The strength of the immune response is also dictated by antigen. The animal will often respond more strongly to antigen, which is larger or to an animal that differs significantly from proteins in its own body than to less antigen, which is chemically similar to the body's own molecules. The organism starts rapid production of antibodies when unknown or particularly threatening antigens are present.

In the laboratory, antibodies are produced in the bodies of living animal hosts. Animals that are biochemically different from humans such as rabbits or sheep are often used because easyo synthesize antibodies with human proteins that identify their bodies as threatening. Antigens are injected into the bloodstream of the host animal and evoke an immune response in the host animal. Once the animals produce antibodies, they can be pumped from blood and antibodies can be separated and used in different types of test tests.
