What is polyene?

Polyene is an organic compound that contains two or more sequences of alternating carbon atoms with one and double binding. The double polyene is called the Diene, the triple is trieen and one with four sequences is tetraene. The term polyene is also used to apply for all antifungal antibiotics. They are also used to produce fatty acids and natural dyes.

In order to be polyene, fatty acid or organic compound must be unsaturated or polyatat. This means that carbon atoms present in fatty acids have at least one case where one of the atoms of carbon has a double bond that connects it with another carbon atom. There may also be cases where such bonds are triple bonds. Each double or triple bond reduces the amount of hydrogen molecules or other particles that carbon atom can connect by one and two.
