What is a primary care dentist?

primary care (PCD) dentist (PCD) is the main provider of dental care for the insured patient in the Maintenance Maintenance Maintenance Insurance (DMO). This dentist is responsible for the coordination and integration of teeth care for the patient. The PCD serves as a gate for dental specialists. Before visiting a specialist, insured patients under this type of dental plan must obtain recommendations from their dentist. This approach can maintain lower teeth costs in patients and insurance companies while allowing access to a wider range of services and better quality care.

Traditionally, the possibilities of dental insurance were modest. The most common type of insurance offered was the basic maintenance of dental, such as cleansing and cavity fillings. The main dental work was often not covered. Only those dental policies that have been integrated into health insurance covered more complicated procedures such as getting braces. In both cases, however, the insured had direct access to anyhowThe oled general or specialist simply by calling and agreement with a practitioner who has accepted the type of insurance providing cover.

As a result of the popularity of the Maintenance Organization (HMO), which requires to be insured to select one primary care physician who controls access to all other medical specialists and services, access to dental insurance was later arranged under the same model. DMOS offers a wider range of covered dental services, but requires the insured to choose a dentist at the beginning of politics. Once this selection is made, the insured must first go to his PCD, even if the service he needs is provided by another dentist.

Specialists do great dentures such as bridge work, tugging and installing braces. Dentist priTwo care can only be municipalities. The insured cannot select a PCD from the specialist category.

Insurance companies expect that primary care dentist checks the use of services, so the costs of insurance will not be controlled. The theory is, if the insured must take the next step and get an independent assessment of the need for the procedure, prevents excessive use. PCDS also serves as a point of integration and maintains the entire record from the insured dental record from all experts. Theoretically, this should improve the quality of care, because there would be no dental decision in the vacuum.

Finally, the insurance company claims that this approach to the gateway to the services controls costs, which in turn allows them to offer more comprehensive dental coverage. Some of the disadvantages of the insured are the additional amount of time to obtain really necessary services, and more common payments that must be carried out at each further visit to the office.
