What is Pulsus paradoxus?

The

human heart consists of four chambers, including two atrium in the upper organ and two chambers in the lower half. The muscle called septum separates the chambers on the right side of the heart from the left. It is located in a bag called pericardium, the heart is influenced by the movement of structures in the body including the lungs. The capacity of the left ventricle is somewhat inhibited during inhalation, as the lungs spread and push the right chamber. During the heart rhythm, blood pressure may drop when a person breathes; If this effect is more pronounced than usual, it is called Pulsus paradoxus. The phenomenon of the Pulsus paradoxus is called SO, because in the medical test, heart sounds can be heard between pulses. A paradoxic pulse can be used to detect and diagnose different heart conditions. It is often evaluated along with the Kissmaul sign, which is a change in the shape and pressure of the veins that can be caused by pressure on the heart.

When Pulsus paradoxus is detected, the doctor may further explorethe patient in different ways. The carotid artery and pulses of peripheral arteries are often performed. Blood pressure cuffs can also be used to measure the heart sound and wave analysis is often performed in people with obstacles to the airways or who are in intensive care. Paradoxus pulse can be caused by the pressing of fluid on the heart, heart attack, blocking the blood vessels in the lungs and shock to the heart. Other causes may be obesity, hernia of membranes or anaphylactic shock.

bronchial asthma can also cause pulse paradox. Mechanically, the effect may be caused by the inability to be properly transmitted by the heart. Blood in the lungs can associate like VDEŠE, and if the space around the heart is narrowed, the phenomenon is often found. Airway disorders associated with asthma can increase the pressure around the heart and affect how blood is pumped when the heart is narrowed by abnormal lung activity.

In various diseases, Pulsus paradoxus is expected, but not always occurs if there are defects of septumor aorta, which is the main artery leaving the heart. Doctors usually have to look for a combination of things to assess heart health. The causes of a paradoxic pulse can be determined by evaluating the heart sounds by a precordial test, X -ray design or administration of electrocardiogram.
