What is a leisure disease?
At the end of the 20th century, Ad Vingerhoets and Maaike van Huijgevoort, psychologists at the University of Tilburg in the Netherlands, for the first time studied illness syndrome. In principle, they found that many people seem to get sick on weekends and holidays, not from virus -based diseases, but from the fact that they do not work. This can cause symptoms such as insomnia, nausea, exhaustion, colds symptoms or flu and headaches. Those who suffer from this situation may also have a poor holiday, because they often feel bad or lack energy to enjoy the activities they plan. This disease is considered psychosomatic because most people do not suffer from any viral or bacterial infection in the middle.
In early studies conducted by these psychologists, certain types of personality seemed to be the most similar to the development of this condition. People who are usually overworked expressed a lot of stress around work or who rarely took time off from work were most oftenby more victims. Others who tended to be influenced were those for whom holiday planning was considered particularly stressful. On the other hand, people who did not report on vacation that they were on holiday, probably show healthy attitudes to work, have a balanced work and social life, and enjoyed their time off and did not consider it stressful.
In some people, a sudden transition from the orientation of free time orientation caused the symptoms of the disease in their free time. It is as if they really did not know what to do with themselves, even if they had plans, because their central focus was generally on work. This appeared in the body as symptoms of stress, which in turn became symptoms of the disease.
When people took a long holiday, many reported that they felt better after a week. Yet some reported that they are always patients on holiday, regardless of length. In the first scenario with the ZDOh, some people are able to move their focus to free time instead of working mode and recover from illness after being out of work for a while.
It seems that the solution to work to work can help illness in free time. Many people who reported it also reported to think about the work most of the time they did not work, and some also noted that they felt guilty for not working at the time of their free time. It is quite easy to draw the boundaries between interest in work, stress and illness.
However, the proposal is that the cure of the disease in free time means changing attitudes to work. This could mean that one allows you to feel the right to leave and still participate in social activities during your working week, so there is a better balance between work and relaxat. In terms of stress, many people are able to feel less stress when they intentionally focus on the present, do not allow their work to "with them". This cannot always be managed, but if every holiday representsAnother attack of the disease, individuals could consider it appropriate to explore how to change their attitudes to work.
