What is Holmes and Rahe Stress Scale?

The Holmes and Rahe stress scale is a section that a healthcare provider can use to assess the patient's risk of stress -related diseases. Patients can also use it as a self -evaluation tool and can be useful in deciding on the treatment of stress. It is freely available online and through counseling offices, with adults and non-adult versions in the publication.

This tool was developed by Richard Rahe and Thomas Holmes at the end of 60 years. They knew that stress could contribute to the development of the disease and wanted to understand how different life events could affect human health. They downloaded patient data and survey results from different populations to evolve a section that could apply to people from many different environments. The section was initially known as the scale of social re -evaluation, but since then it has generally become known as the scale of stress Holmes and Rahe.

The scale contains a list of more than 40 life events such as career change, death in genusino or violation of the law. Every event is assigned a numeric value in terms of how much a human health can have. The loss of the husband has a score of 100, the most serious impact. The date of prison score 63, while on vacation is 13. The patient can go down the list to see how many of these events he has experienced in recent months, and in total you can add to determine where he falls on the Holmes and Rahe stress scale.

If the score is below 150, it suggests that the patient is not a very high risk of health problems related to stressful life events. The score between 150 and 250 is a reason for fears with increased risk. The patient can benefit from interventions such as therapy and other forms of help. A score above 250 means a high risk of disease development.

The

scale for undilaterals focuses on life events that may be in childhood and adolescent years, such as the first departure from home for the first time, or the loss of parents' work. This version of the Holmes and Rahe stress scale can be useful for advisors and daLightening experts who work with youth. They can use a scale to identify students and clients at risk of health complications due to stressful life events. The scale can also be useful for the development of appropriate interventions.
