What are the advantages of meditation for anxiety?

Anxiety is a sense of nervousness, worries or restlessness, usually related to the upcoming event. For most people, this is an occasional problem that is solved as soon as the event has passed, but for some it can remain as a constant, basic stream of the overall feeling of fear that makes normal daily activities more difficult. Using meditation for anxiety can help reassure concerns, re -focus the mind and relax the body.

Meditation is a wide term used to describe many different types of techniques, such as transcendental meditation, meditation of mindfulness and meditation of empty mind. Although types of meditation for anxiety may vary significantly, the overall goal of everyone is to create a more relaxed state of mental consciousness. Most types have four common elements: quiet place, comfortable position, open attitude and focus.
