What is HMO Health Care?

HMO Health Care is a common type of health care that is offered throughout the United States. HMO Health Care, directly related to managed care (MC), is generally delivered by companies by more than 25 employees. HMO differs from other health care plans because of the fact that all doctors and specialists who have seen the patient must agree to the specific conditions set by the HMO.

There are various forms of HMO health care plans in operation. Employee models, group models and network models are part of a larger category of HMO health care, but the specifics of each plan differ drastically. Personnel models include doctors working exclusively with the HMO provider. Plans of the Group HMO model are not directly associated with individual doctors, but are associated with a team of specialized HMO doctors. Network models allow patients with HMO to contact any group, individual physician or IPA (Independent Practice Association).
