What are Brazilian nuts?

Brazilian nuts are technically seeds, not nuts, but their covers similar to brown walnut led most people to call them nuts. They are produced by a South American tree that tends to grow in virgin rainforests, and they are a very popular source of food in many Latin American nations, as well as the rest of the world. The nuts have a rich, creamy taste that lends well to the range of foods, except that they are tasty themselves. In good growing conditions, a tree can reach a height of 150 feet (45 meters) and plays an important role in the ecology of rainforest. Trees usually have straight, smooth trunks that open on the branching of the canopy and drop their leaves during the dry period. Many animals interact with Brazilian trees, including Agouti, the type of South American rodent, which seeds and hides other for later consumption. Brazil nuts sometimes evolve on their own trees and maintain a cycle.

Trees are excellent illustrations of a complex network of interdependence that characterizes the rainforest. When they bloom, the trees produce complex curled flowers that cannot be penetrated mostly pollinators. One kind of bees likes flowers, but is found only in the presence of a particular orchid. Brazilian nuts will therefore only be produced in the areas of the rainforest that have this orchid. The tree relys on animals such as Agouti to seed.

In nature, Brazil nuts develop inside a large capsule, which is strongly similar to coconut. If the capsule is cut, it will reveal a number of three -sided nuts. The nuts have extremely hard shells, but if they can be successfully cracked, they provide proteins and fat seeds. Brazilian nuts are considered complete protein, which makes them an excellent complement to vegetarian diet. Unfortunately, due to the high fat content in Brazilian nuts, they can easily cross and be held on cold sucmove and eat quickly.

6 The oil is rich, creamy and very tasty. It can be used in cooking projects and also has an application as a lubricant. Finding oil can sometimes be difficult, but the nuts themselves are usually easily accessible in most markets.
