What are cucumbers of bread and butter?
bread and butter, also known as sweet and acidic cucumbers, are at the sweeter end of the spectrum of cucumber, but not entirely at the level of traditional sweet cucumbers. They are often sold in shops such as slices shortened, ideal for topping hamburgers and other spicy sandwiches. Bread and butter cucumbers can also be found in the form of a salad cube for use in cold meat or on pasta, or even as a finely chopped taste. Cucumbers are immersed in this solution of sugar, vinegar and spices until the mixture reaches the point just below cooking. After a few minutes, bread and butter are ready to preserve in jars.
The preservation process is considered to be "hot canning". When the sugar solution and vinegar have cooled sufficiently for safe handling, the content is poured into clean masonry glasses, allowing a small gap at the top. Once the glasses are filled, they are placed in hot water for at least ten minutes to kill all the remaining organisms, and then the lids are added.
