What are dumplings?
There are many different types of dumplings. Sometimes they are referred to as potatoes of a poor person. The most common type is made of boiled dough, which is a mixture of flour and milk used in food such as chicken and dumplings. They are usually light and fluffy, while other types are harder and more comparable to noodles. They can also be fried, filled or roasted and even filled with dessert apples.
The heavier type is used in soups and stews. Fried dumplings can be administered with other foods or consumed separately and are expected to come from Chinese cooking. The taste of Chinese cuisine can also be stuffed and may have started with a "fried Wanton", a crispy fried version, which is usually stuffed with meat, such as chicken or shrimp. Apple dumplings are dough hills filled with apples and covered with cinnamon and sugar that are baked up to golden brown. To create heavier dumplings, one of the above recipes can be used, but only small bits should be dropped into the broth. Cook until the consistency of the noodles is accepted. If more uniform sizes and shapes are preferred, the balls can be formed and covered with flour. The dough is then balanced and cut into small strips. Strips are cooked until they reach the desired texture.
