What is Bakewell's cake?
Bakewell Tart is an English tea cake named around Bakewell, Derbyshire, England. The dessert dates back to the sixties and has a combination of pastry shells, jam and almond mushroom or pudding. Bakewell cakes are often called Bakewell Puddings, but both desserts are basically the same.
Legend as Bakewell's cake is considered a myth, but still remains a popular explanation. According to the story, the customer ordered a strawberry cake from Mrs. Greaves, Landlady and Cook of White Horse Inn in Bakewell. Landlada, who was busy, ordered a new cooking assistant to prepare a dessert. Instead of mixing strawberry jam into the filling, the chef forgot them and at the last minute spread the jam on the bottom of the pastry and covered it with a creamy filling. Before her death, Mrs. Greaves Supposedly left mysterious instructions to a local man named Radford, who in turn handed the recipe for Mr. Bloomer. Coincidentally, the Bloomer family operates a bakery in Bakewell, sold by Bakewell Tarts and Puddings.
To create a traditional bakewell cake, introduce the dough and place it in a greasy tin cake or use a pre-made pastry shell in food stores. Stir constantly, add three egg whites and one yolk eggs on one and each completely mixes. A tablespoon of this mixture or cake shell and sprinkle with ground almonds.
Bake the cake at 360 ° Farenheit (182 ° Celsius) for about 50 minutes. You can serve hot cakes from the oven for summer dessert. Typical variations include the addition of Maraschino cherry to the top or replacement of strawberry jam and almonds with their favorite flavors. Common combinations include raspberry jam and hazelnuts or apricot jam and macadamo nuts.
