What is Bolillo?

very similar in taste and appearance as baguette, Bolillo is a simple white bread that is popular in Mexico and several countries in South America. Bolillo is characterized by an oval shape, which is usually about six inches in length, often used for popular ethnic sandwiches such as torta and mollete.

In Mexico, Bolillo is often referred to as Mr. de Agua. Brazil is one of the nations where Bolillo is widely used and is often identified as Pao Frances or Pao de Sal. This designation is freely based on similarities in taste and texture with French bread, especially baguettes. In other places Bolillo can be known as Barra or Mr. Blanco.

Traditionally, the Mexican variety Bolillo is prepared in large rock furnaces. It is understood that this method of baking provides a crispy bark for bread, which is one of the most attractive bollo features. Bread is often prepared fresh daily and can be consumed for any meal. In some cases Bolillo will be served with a simpleForts like eggs and some kind of friend's meat. Bolillo, however, can also serve as a simple snack or dessert by dividing bread and pouring milk or chocolate milk over two pieces.

Perhaps the most popular use of Bolillo is to create tortas. These tasty Mexican sandwiches can use a wide range of meat along with watering such as Jalapeño peppers, crushed avocados, beans, salad, tomatoes, scrambled eggs and almost any other bay that can be imagined. Torta made using Bolillo can be served hot or cold.

Because Bolillo is made of a simple recipe that includes mainly flour, salt and water, it is very easy to bread. Even when buying from the bakery, Bolillo tends to be very cheap. Providing Bolillo, a crunchy exterior that protects a tender and tasty interior is a great way to add bread to almost whatat any meal.
