What is a low carb wine?
The US regulatory body, which oversees wine labeling, states that since 2004 a low carbohydrate wine, which contains less than 7 grams of carbohydrates in a 5-union glass. As the data available from the US Department of Agriculture prove, this applies to virtually all wine -based wines and products. The department states that a 5-union glass of typical dry red wine contains 102 calories and 2.41 grams of carbohydrates. Similarly, a typical glass of white wine offers 96 calories and only 1.13 grams of carbohydrates. The rule of the number of carbohydrates for wine is the lower alcohol content, the lower the number of carbohydrates. Fault.
Wine producers, however, began to take care of dieters and people looking for ultra -low carb wine. In the forefront of this low Carb trend, a new line of wines developed by Louisville companies called Brown-Forman Wines. Their Low Carb Wine Line contains bottles called One.6 Chardonnay and One.9 Merlot. As their names indicate, the former wine contains 1.6 grams of carbohydrates, behindThe second 1.9 grams per 5-union glass. Chardonnay boasts a mixture of citrus fruit and melon and Merlot is spicy with forest berry soup. The company is already trying to add low carbohydrate wine to its low range of wine and has only 1.9 grams of carbohydrates when producing Cabernet Sauvignon.
The brown-form-form of low carb wines is a product of a research project of one million dollars that manipulates the process of fermentation of wine to cut all excess sugar. The process includes the selection of a bridge suitable low carbohydrates, which are then released by all the content of their extra sugar by a process known as dry fermentation. The wine is then mixed to maximize its taste. A low carb bottle sells approximately ten dollars. However, it should be noted that for all these wines, which is a very advertised Carb content, their calorie content is almost the same as wine developed according to the regular fermentation process.
