What is a Mexican saucepan?
Mexican saucepan does not apply to a specific recipe in itself, but it is a wide term that describes the type of hot food containing Mexican ingredients and flavors. The ingredients are usually laminated or mixed together and baked in the oven. A typical Mexican saucepan may contain a combination of seasoned meat, black beans or dried beans and cheeses such as Cedar or Monterey Jack. Rice, tortillas or both are often used between layers. They do not stay crunchy for a long time and can soften unless the casserole is taken immediately.
