What is the papaya?
Papaya came from Central and South America, but now is doing well in many countries with tropical or nearby tropical climate. When Columbus discovered fruit on his travels, he described it as "fruit of angels". Unlike some tropical fruits, Papaya refers to most of the palaces and is quite easy to obtain in countries where it does not grow well. They have no branches and fruits that produce all year round, grow directly on the trunk of the tree. The papayas can be quite large, sometimes up to 20.8 inches (50.8 cm) long.
The fruit sometimes has a round shape or can be more pear -shaped depending on the diversity and conditions of cultivation. As available in stores, papaya is not generally so long. Most of them have an average length of 7 inches (17.78 cm). The fruit is remarkably dense and can weigh up to a pound (approximately half a kilogram).
When it is fully mature, papaya has a yellowish to orange skin that is somewhat hard and not edible. Immature papays can be used in some recipes but generally notare consumed. The interior of the fruit is dark orange, taste sweet and texture soft. It is an excellent supplement to the diet because it contains a large amount of vitamins A, C and E and folic acid. Papaya is also rich in dietary fiber and has antioxidant properties.
black seeds indicate the center of fruit. The seeds are not poisonous and many enjoy them. They are spicy and in some cultures they are gently replaced by pepper. Others consider the taste of the seeds a little oily and bitter and simply discard them.
Papáje have long been known for their properties in improving digestion. Enzyme papain is extracted when papaya is still immature and can be inserted into a capsule or chewing forms. Many swearing papayers as an excellent alternative to less natural digestive aids such as Tums®.

Papaya is a great addition to fruit salads and is also beautiful consumed as it is. Recipes abound in to use fruit more. Papaya can be used as a supplement to the chutney or salsa. It can be filled with shrimp and baked. When used in smoothies, ice creams and cakes, it adds tropical taste to dessert offers. There are many Mexican and South American dishes, including papaya, because it is proliferated in these regions and is often a daily part of food.
