What is ultramarathon?
Ultramarathon is a sporting event in which participants run a distance that is greater than the traditional length of the marathon 26,2188 miles (42,195 km). Ultramarathon events take place around the world and attract great athletes. Most events include a specified length, while other events have a specified time when runners try to cover more land than their opponents. The events are exhausting, not only because the runners have to cover themselves, but because of the often harsh weather conditions and rough terrain. Most ultra races take place on courses that are winding forests, mountains, dirt roads and rock slopes. Athletes often have to promote extreme temperatures that cause sunburn or frostbite. These stops are common to athletes to relax and recover. Athletes also supply supplies, food and water at these stops.
Many competitors cannot complete ultramaraton for injuries or exhaustion. The race is usually completed only by the best conditioned athletes. SomeIndividuals have been preparing for years before trying for an ultra race.
Friends marathon is the oldest and longest ultramaraton in the world. The race takes place in South Africa and attracts almost 12,000 runners every year. Athletes test their endurance at 55.92 miles (90 km). South Africa also organizes another ultramarathon called Two Oceans Marathon, which includes a 34.79 miles course (56 km). The third African ultramarathon takes place in Morocco.
There are several races that are held in Asia that cover the distance larger than the normal marathon. The races take place regularly in both China Singapore. Nepal also has several races, including Everest Ultra.
One of the most difficult ultra races in the world is in Andalucia, Spain. 142,92 miles (230 km) Al Andalus Ultra-Trail hosts the race for five days. This race is considered to be one of the most reputable in the world. Europe organizes several other races, including KURZU 103.15 miles (166 km) around Mont-Blanc, which is the highest mountain in the Alps.
