What is Artocarpus?

arocarpus is the family of the trees and shrubs of the Mulberry family, Moraceae. It has about 60 species, all originally from Southeast Asia and the Pacific. Several types of artocarpus are grown for its edible fruit, especially arocarpus altilis or bread and a. Heterophyllus or jackfruit. Some species are also cultivated for their wood or edible seeds.

a. Altilis is one of the highest fruit trees. Breadfruit is a grapefruit size, rich in starch and when cooking tastes potatoes or bread. The fruit is also traditionally preserved as a fermented paste, often made by burial of peeled fruit in a pit lined with a leaf. a.
