What is Bolo de Rolo?
Bolo de Rolo is a Brazilian dessert that includes rolling a long thin layer of cake, which was covered in Guava's jam into a log-similar shape, creating a spiral formula inside. One of the distinctive elements Bolo de Rolo is the thinness of the cake, which is usually produced in tin pans with a dough similar to cookie, which includes flour, butter and eggs. The filling that extends over the cake is traditionally Guava Jam or Marmalade, but it can really be anything from dulce de leche to a range of chocolate or hazelnuts. The dessert can be cut and served on a plate with multiple fillings at the top or whipped cream. Individual slices can also be packed and stored for use later.
The dough on the cake for Bolo de Rolo is made of eggs, butter, cake flour and sugar. Butter and sugar are the cream of their whipping together until it is smooth and light. Eggs and flour are added to complete the dough. For lighter cakes, the eggs are sometimes separated by abilé are folded into the dough before adding the meal.
The dough is then placed in a tin pan. Depending on the kitchen setting, one cake can be baked at once or more leaves can be baked simultaneously. One of the keys to create Bolo de Rolo is to distribute the dough into a sheet metal pan in very thin layers, because the cake will not roll if the layers are too thick. It is also important that the layers are not too thin, as crepe, because they could dissolve in jam, which makes the inside of the cake a formless porridge.
After spreading in metal pans, the dough is baked in the oven for a few minutes. In order for the rolling process to work, the cake must only cook long enough to set and remain wet. If the cake begins to brown or even turn the gold color, then it leaves it too much moisture and the cake breaks into pieces when rolling.
When the cake is cooked, it is removed from the pan and placed on a very slightly damp towel and sprinkled with powder sugar. GuAva jam or other filling spreads in a thin layer over the cake. Starting with one end, it is slowly rolled to form a war. Once one sheet of cakes is, the process can be repeated with the further location of the protocol on the edge of the new cake and continuing to rolling. In this way, several smaller and easier handling of cakes can be combined to create a single Bolo de Rolo with many layers inside.
complete Bolo de Rolo is packed in plastic and chilled. When it is done, it can be cut into a dramatic presentation and served on a plate. The cake can be served with freshly whipped cream, drizzled with hot syrup or plated side of the filling used in the role.
