What is Madeira cake?

Madeira Cake is a rich cake that falls into the category of mushroom cake. This usually shows that the cake is made without shortening. Madeira Cake came in England around the 18th century.

Although the name led to the fact that this cake originated in the Portuguese islands, it is actually named for wine that often accompanies. Madeira wine, made on Madeira islands, was a popular drink in Europe as early as the 16th century. The sea voyage from Madeira islands to Europe and later to America was used for the age of wine. Despite the name Madeira Cake in the recipe never contains Madeira wine or any other type of alcohol. The fruit should also be excluded from the proposed additions for those who want to stick to the original roots of the cake.
