What is Michetta?
is in Italy a type of bread. Some say bread is one of the most affordable breads in the country and one of the simplest. The taste may resemble a donut and white bread that have some sweetness. In terms of appearance, Italian bread is particularly distinguished by its five-scanned shape, thanks to which it can look like a star or flower. The bread is also called "Rosetta", referring to its shape similar to a rose.
There are different accounts that point to the history of Michetta. One version tells of bread called "Kaisersemmel", which introduced the Austrians in Lombardy during their conquest in Italy. But the bread quickly became musty, because Milan, where the bread was baked, was so damp. Innovative bakers came up with a solution that excludes bread, resulting in a fresher, sweeter and softer version of Kaisersemmel, which has become Rosett. The word "Michetta" comes from the Lombardy word "Micca", which means "Crumb".
Another local account tells of the tradition of the 14th century in the Italian village called Dolceaqua, where the awning demanded that every bride would sleep with him on his wedding night. The newly cousin named Lucrezia refused to follow the tradition and led Marquise to imprison her and let her execute. When they heard, the Dolceaqua people led a rebellion against the awning and forced him to abolish tradition. In honor of the newly found liberation, some women took care of sweet flower -shaped bread, a metaphor for female genitals. So Michett was invented.
Michetta contains many common ingredients found in other breads such as flour, eggs, sugar and yeast. Many recipes recommend using hot water to help yeasts when increasing bread. For a sweeter and more pronounced taste, the amount of Marsalze wine also add to the dough. Before baking, it is always important to allow the dough to first leave it for at least an hour.
To create the shape of a flower bread, the dough is first shaped into the ball and baker by hand tFive buttons and another button in the middle. In some recipes, the shape is created by creating five shallow slices along the bounds of packed dough. Michetta can be constructed eggs to have the glossy surface, or can also have sugar dust to make it look tastier.
