What is tea Pu-erh?
Pu-erh tea, which is also observed as Pu'er or Pu-Er, is a type of post-fermented tea from China. In parts of China, such as Canton province, tea is known as Po-Lay or Bo-Lay and is served with traditional dim sums. Tea has a very strong taste that some consumers consider quite delicate, and is one of the few teas that improve with age. Some of the best PU-ERH teas are over fifty years old and can be quite expensive. PU-ERH tea is available in most Asian specialized shops and can also be found in some supermarkets. Like all teas, PU-ERH is made from the leaves of the plant Camellia sinensis and the unique taste comes from the way the tea is processed. Technically, PU-ERH tea is a type of green tea, because the leaves are baked right after their choice. After baking, the leafs of PU-ERH are dried before steadily running and let it ferment. Some manufacturers of PU-ERHU ferment tea twice, so the taste is even more intense.
PU-ERH tea is traditionally dried and packed in cakes that can be averted as tea is needed, although some companies produce a single Pu-ERH serving cakes. It is assumed that packaging of tea in bamboo retains the taste and prevents rot and many top Pu-Erůhs arrive wrapped in bamboo. Tea is also available in the form of free leaves and bags, although connoisseurs of PU-ERH tea prefer the form of cake.
Slightly musty scent and earthy taste is attributed to PU-ERH tea, although cheaply produced PU-ERH can be very bitter. Good tea PU-ERH can age for at least six months before it is sent to the market to allow the taste of tea. Some special tea shops bear older PU-ERHY, which makes various years of consumer who are interested in the age of Pu-ERH. If you store PU-ERH in a cold dry place, tea can also be at home.
