What is rock salt?
rock salt is a mineral form of sodium chloride, otherwise known as table salt. Sometimes it is referred to as "Halit", especially when used industrially. This form of salt is available in most grocery stores as well as in hardware stores that store it in massive bags to keep ice on roads in winter. There are a number of uses for rock salts, from the production of homemade ice cream to disruption.
The primary difference between rock and table salt is size. Rock salt is formed in very large, robust crystals, unlike small crystals observed in table salt. Like table salt, it also has a range of trace minerals that can affect how chemically it behaves. Due to the large size of crystals, rock salt is usually not used directly during cooking, as the dissolution takes a long time. These deposits are usually remnants of inland, which has evaporated thousands or millions of years ago. On the other hand, table salt comes almost exclusively from the evaporation ponds, toTeré removes seawater salt. For centuries, people have been aware of the deposits of rock salt, and when the salt was still quite rare, the wars were sometimes conducted over the control of such deposits, because salt is so critical for many human activities.
salt reduces the freezing point of water, so the rock salt was historically used on salt ice roads in winter to melt the ice away. Road salt, as it is sometimes called, was largely discarded in favor of other materials such as sand, for concerns about salty drainage and the environment. Rock salt is also used in a wide range of production applications in which salt is required. People sometimes use it as a form of humane ammunition to leave undesirable animal and human visitors without injuring them, although Face is full of salt can be potentially very dangerous, especially if the pellets get into the eyes.
at home people often use rockysalt when they make ice cream. When wrapped with ice in the ice cream manufacturer, it reduces the freezing point, allowing ice cream to cooler. Salt can also be used for pickling and curing and in the production of salt crust for various foods. If it is consumed, chefs should certainly buy tailor -made salt because some companies treat salt designed for roads and other use with chemicals.
