What is iliocostalis?

ilocostalis is the muscles of the back included in the Erector Spinae muscle group. It is the most modern muscles Erector Spinae in that it is the farthest from the spine and vertically span the uterine, thoracic and lumbar vertebrae. The very long, very narrow muscle is responsible for the movements of the spine including the head and the neck and the entire vertebral column.

As part of the Erector Spinae group, which are actually three different muscles arranged in columns, the ilocostalis is accompanied by spinalis and longissimus. Spinalis is located medially or closest to the spine and consists of three segments that stretch from the upper two lumbar vertebrae to the second cervical vertebra: Spinalis dorsi, spinalis cervicis and spinalis chapter. Among Spinalis and IlioCostalis is Longissimus, which is the longest of the three and also consists of three segments: Longissimus dorsi, Longissimus cervicis and The Longissimus Capitus.

on the outside of these two muscles is ilocostalis with its three segments: Iliocostalis lumborum, IliocostAlis Dorsi and IlioCostalis cervicis. The segments of the ilioCostalis are distributed, with the lumborum segment from the spine from the scythe and the ridge of the bone in the hip, the point of origin, which it shares with the rest of the spinae erector muscles. From there it rises through the tendons into the lower six or seven ribs.

iliocostalis dorsi is formed from the lower six ribs and runs vertically only medially or inside the fibers IlioCostalis lumborum. It puts on the upper six ribs and also on the transverse processes C7, small bony spikes on the front of the seventh cervix. Finally, IlioCostalis cervicis comes from the third to sixth rib and attboli transverse processes of the fourth to sixth neck in the throat.

It is in the throat, where one of the main events of Iliocostalis can be seen. When muscle downloads are contracted laterally or only on one side, it bends the head and the neck towards the side on which it pulls. When the muscle contraction bilateral-toIt means when both sides are activated at the same time-it adheres in the extension of the spine or straightening the vertebral column, as in attracting it upright from the summarized position.
