What is a research professor?

The research professor is an employee of an academic institution that focuses on conducting research and conducting little or no teaching. The position of research professor is sometimes described as "post doctoral programs for steroids" because they allow people to focus on research and take advantage of the benefits and faculties of the institution without the need to teach students. For universities, the maintenance of research professors is a way to add to the reputation and a set of knowledge of the university, as the university can attract attention and interest when these employees publish research results.
