What does it mean to have another chromosome?

Someone who has another chromosome has a total of 47 chromosomes instead of typical 46 or 23. This results in a state known as trisomy . Trisomy is associated with mental retardation and often death, depending on which chromosome did not work.

trisomy, which occurs on the 13th or 18th chromosomes, results in severe mental retardation. Children born with this condition generally die of medical complications within a few days and sometimes earlier. The vast majority of chromosomal disorders happen in early pregnancy and causes the fetus to interrupt, resulting in abortion. Therefore, most children who have extra chromosome die.

In one condition, however, children can live and even have productive lives if treatment and special education and attention are paid. Children born with trisomy 21 or extra chromosome 21 have a condition known as downu . Although children with Down syndrome suffer from a certain level of mental -gone, most of them are highCE functional.

children with Down syndrome generally have a significant physical appearance, with smaller heads than usual and eyes that are rounded at the ends at the end. They may also have a lack of muscle tone, small ears and mouths and wide hands with short fingers. The mental abilities of these children are very different, but most of them can live productive lives if the right interventions are accepted early.

Mother is more likely to have a child with extra chromosome as aging. This could be because her eggs age and more likely to have chromosomal defects than the bathtubs of younger women. There is no known Down syndrome prevention, although diagnostic testing can be performed during pregnancy to see if the unborn child has a condition. This is not always accurate because most children with abnormal tests are not related to Down syndrome.

In addition to physical characteristics and mentalDifferences in children born with extra chromosome can often experience serious health conditions. They may include vision problems, intestinal blocking, heart problems including enlarged heart, constipation, sleep apnea and hypothyroidism. Many of these things can be successfully treated, although serious cardiac conditions may require surgery correction.

Diagnosis for Down Syndrome can generally be done on the basis of blood test results that test for further chromosome 21. Suspicies of Down syndrome are generally directly at birth, although if the doctor notices typical physical characteristics common with trisomy 21.
