What is Cobra Insurance?
In fact, there is no specific type of insurance called Cobra Insurance. Rather, the term comes from the provisions in the consolidated Act on reconciliation of the Omnibus budget of 1985 (Cobra), which in 1986 became the law in the United States. The law would provide them with a way to leave many people in the US for some time after subjugation of changes in their circumstances, such as the loss of their jobs or divorces, which would have them received without the Commission benefits for a certain period of time. This continuation of insurance benefits is often referred to as COBRA insurance.
Cost
COBRA Insurance is usually more expensive for people who have it than their health insurance was when they were employed, but it is cheaper than it would be without COBRA. Most employers pay at least a percentage of health insurance costs for their employees and many companies must be a law. However, a person who has COBRA insurance must pay all cossies.
However, the COBRA provision allows the individual to continue their insurance coverage at the group rate received by his employer instead of paying an individual rate. Groups are able to receive discounts from insurance companies, so the person covered by COBRA is usually able to pay a lower rate. Thus, an employee who is out of work at a time could increase health care costs, but due to COBRA, paying even higher costs can be avoided.users
The main users of this provision are people who, for some reason, have lost primary means of coverage of health care. The most common example is the loss of work. Cobra Insurance also includes recent pensioners and people with disabilities. He usually covers his wife and children if possible.Advantages
