What is color therapy?
Color therapy, also referred to as chromotherapy, is a holistic healing that uses colors to change mood and improve health. Chromotherapy dates back to thousands of years, and the Mayans and ancient Egyptians were even used as a method to promote well -being and healing. During the 20th century, color therapy enjoyed the revival. Color therapy uses the principle that each spectrum color evokes different emotions in humans.
Red is associated with courage, strength, ambition and attention. It can be used to ensure greater self -confidence and a sense of security. Orange is related to success and happiness. Color can be used as a source for inspiration and hope.
yellow is associated with its own value, wisdom and inspiration. Color can be used to help memory and offer courage. Green is associated with peace, love and hope. It can be used as a reducer of stress and as a way to help ensure balance.
Blue is related to creativity, personal expression and health. Color can offer peace and improve bright skills of thinkingand communication. Indigo is associated with understanding and imagination. It can provide greater awareness and promote creativity. Violet is related to creativity and beauty and is said to support generosity, non -generality and relaxation.
Color therapy can be used using different methods. A person can use a lamp that produces different colors - a color lamp can improve the entire room or be narrow enough to focus on a specific part of the body. Another method is to apply different colors of the spectrum to acupuncture points on the skin using a tool that looks like a pen light. Skin receptors then absorb light. Another technique requires a person to imagine a particular color in deep breathing.
If desired, one can even choose to wear glasses that allow the use of the spectrum for filtering. The light that enters the eyes promotes the formation of hormones that affectBiochemical system of the body. Other methods that can be used for color therapy include clothing, therapeutic oils, bathtubs, soap and colors.
It has been shown that the color increases the mood. Light boxes have been shown to help seasonal affective disorders, which is related to the lack of sunlight in the winter months. The color is also useful for the treatment of mood and sleep disorders. The practitioners recommend that chromotherapy should not be the only method of treating critical diseases such as cancer. Instead, experts recommend that color therapy be used in addition to medicines or treatment.
