What are dolmades?

Dolma or Dolmades is a traditional part of Greek cuisine. While the ingredients for the filling differ somewhat, the Dolmades packaging is traditionally grape leaves. However, it is considered acceptable to use cabbage leaves for a bowl.

The beauty of Dolmades is such that with this basic Greek food can be used a wide combination of ingredients. In general, a certain type of chopped meat is included in the filler. Usually used beef or lamb, even if crushed chicken can also be used. The meat is complemented by other foods such as onions, pine nuts, rice, garlic, chopped or pyrene tomatoes and a number of different spices.

All ingredients are located in the center of the grape sheet. In general, the accumulation of a tablespoon is considered to be sufficient for filler. After the composition of the pages of grapes through the filler and rolling of the leaves to form a closed pouch, the grapes of grapes are placed in DISH baking. Most Dolmades recipes include a thin sauce that is poured over stuffed grape leaves. A simple recipe for this sauce requires a few eggs and a little lemon juice. The eggs are defeated, while in a bowl above boiling water, which helps to give the egg dough a foamy look. Lemon juice is added during the whipping process. When Dolmades emerges from the oven, this mixture of eggs and lemon juice is poured over the top. As an alternative, this mixture, sometimes referred to as Avgolemo sauce, can be administered on the side and is used as a sauce.
