What is a banquet?

Bannet is a traditional Dutch Christmas dessert, which is often given as a gift. It is made of almond paste protocol, which is rolled into pastry dough and creates a larger protocol. The protocol is baked, cooled and packed for talents and then cut into individual portions during consumption. Banquets are often slightly jumped with apricot jam after baking and dusted with powdered sugar when they are served. The Bankot concept is somewhat similar to Wellington's beef, but rather than having beef wrapped in pastry, it is an almond paste. Other names for the banquet include letter banquet, Bankotstaaf or sweet almond squares. It is a normal Christmas gift in the Netherlands. A common variant is to decorate a baked loaf with ladder cherries or almond pieces. One of the several types of walnut traps used in cooking is similar to marzipan, a common component of decorative baking, but has a higher concentration of almonds. Marzipan is usually made with much more sugar than a almond paste used in a banKotu. In addition, Marzipan can be made of cashew in some parts of the world. Almond paste can be purchased at a shop or made at home.

pastry dough is wrapped around the almond paste to form a crunchy, fluffy coating as soon as it is roasted. The basic ingredients for the dough include flour, water and shortening. It is a common type of dough used in cake crusts. The pastry dough is sometimes called puff varies.

Although they are quite easy to produce at home, banquets can generally be easily found in bakeries. Sweet dessert is common during the holidays, so it's not difficult to buy one if the timing is correct. Bakeries, especially the Dutch bakery, often start selling banquets when the weather cools down before Christmas. These desserts can also be ordered from many bakeries.
