What is a marathon?
Marathon is a race of endurance legs that covers 26 miles, 385 yards (42.2 kilometers). It is named after the Greek Battle of Marathon, which occurred in 490 BC. In addition to being an Olympic event for men and women, marathons around the world are operated worldwide on various types of terrain athletes at different levels of skills. To behave well in the marathon, the athlete will undergo an energetic period of training to develop stamina and learn his physical restrictions. According to legend, after the Greeks victorious over the Persians in the Battle of Marathon, they sent runners to Athens with the news. The runner, pheidippides, ran all distance to Athens without stopping, announced victory, and then fell dead due to physical stress on his body caused by a long -term horizon. The numerous authors included a story in poems and songs, including Robert Browning in 1876. Browning's poem was inspired by Michel Breal, organizing the revival of the Olympih game C in 1896, and included a marathon. Herod told this wayOtus, who wrote extensively about Greece-Persian Wars. The runner was certainly sent from Marathon to Athens to give messages, but maybe it was not Pheidippides, and the road was probably not completed without a single stop.
In the modern marathon, the organizers set a racing course that meets the requirement for the distance that was set at the 1908 Olympic Games. Depending on the race, the runners are starting together at a mass start or being sent to waves, separated by sexes and abilities. The course is left open for a specified period of time, usually about four hours, and runners who do not finish the course are picked up and brought to the finish line. In the marathons, a group of less experienced runners, the course can be left open longer to allow them to complete.
long distance running is very demanding on the body. Runners have an extensive training program that mixes endurance running with a loteyes so the body is not damaged. During the race they also monitor their physical health, in an effort to maintain the right balance of electrolytes so that they do not suffer from hyponatraemia, a potentially dangerous condition caused by imbalance in the body. It is common to feel pain and experience a depressive immune system after starting the marathon.
