What is Sincronizada?

Sincronizada is a Mexican type of prepared food that resembles a sandwich. In this type of bowl, ham and cheese are pressed between two tortillas, which are then grilled. Sincronizada looks and often tastes like similar food, QueSadilla, which has been popularized all over the world. Among the tortillas that use other combinations of ingredients and that pass through different names, there are several other resembling foods.

In the case of sincronizada, food is so named because ham and cheese are synchronized in their location between tortillas. Tortillas used in this bowl are often corn flour. The traditional used cheese is Oaxaca cheese, a reference to the Mexican origin of the bowl.

Some recipes may contain other cheeses instead. One cheese used in luxury versions of the bowl is Manchego, hard sheep cheese named for the La Mancha area in Spain. The use of Manchego or other cheeses tends to make a more cosmopolitan recipe.
