What is Afghan bread?
Afghan bread is a type of flat bread, everyday bread of Afghanistan. It can be called noni Afghani, nan-i-ufghan or Afghan nan . In Afghanistan, this bread is served with almost every meal. Afghan bread has about 0.5 inches (1.27 cm) and is made in different sizes. Cumin, sesame or poppy seeds are often sprinkled at the top. Both all wheat or whole white flour can be used. Many recipes require only flour, salt, yeast and water, but yoghurt, oil and eggs are all common adding recipes.
The dough for Afghan bread usually allows you to climb once than it is shaped on baking pieces. It is formed in balls that are allowed a short rest period before everyone is formed in a baking sheet. The rolling pin can be used, but traditionally, the pieces are handmade. The undulating signs of the top, left by the pressure of the fingertips and the shaping of the work is one of the characteristic features of the traditional Afghan flatbread.
Afghan bread is produced in many different sizes, from a small napkin to 3 feet (about 1 m) long. It is usually a narrow oval, much longer than it is wide, sometimes with small holes embossed into the dough before baking. The free -standing brick oven, fired by wood, is traditionally used to care for Afghan bread, while some bakeries can use furnaces or other industrial furnaces. The pizza stone can make a good surface for baking at home. Some recipes for home use call for cooking bread in a heavy pan.
When baking in a traditional oven, bread is usually placed on the inner wall of the oven to take care of. One technique is to place a piece of dough on a moistened piece of flat metal, which is then used to connect the dough to the oven wall. It is not necessary to rotate the bread, as baked at temperatures high enough to cook it thoroughly in a few minutes without turning it. Upon completion, bread is light brown or burntcolor.
Afghan bread can be administered with any Afghan meal and in some countries it is considered the foundation. It is usually served as a snack or light food with yogurt or fresh cheese. The bread freezes well and can be briefly heated in a warm oven.
